EXP-30 Complete with PCB, case, software CD #16323
EXP-30 Complete with PCB, case, software CD  Prices | Support

Unique Atmel AT89C2051/4051 project board that greatly simplifies and speeds development of microcontroller projects and offers a very professional looking instrument case for the completed project.

Small prototype PCB with large character 4-digit LCD and professional looking instrument case.  Pre-programmed intelligent LCD driver provides simple but powerful interface to non-volatile memory, keybutton decoding, math routines, real-time clock, etc.  Complete with RS232 interface, 8051 assembler, working C compiler, BASIC compiler and software examples to build digital voltmeter and thermometer.

Standard version EXP-30-STD:
a) Intelligent LCD driver with simple and powerful commands
b) NVM interface to read/write NVM data (32 bytes)
c) 5 level LED backlight controller
d) Piezo alarm buzzer control
e) Key debounce and key decoding
f) Built-in self-test

Optional Professional version EXP-30-PRO contains all the features of the standard version plus:
g) Real-time clock with full software control
h) 32 bytes of read/write general purpose RAM available in LCD driver
i) Convert binary 16 bit word to BCD and/or display on LCD
j) 32 bit unsigned math package
k) 8 and 16 bit random number generators
l) Increased NVM read/write space to 96 bytes
m) Routines to allow use of front panel keys to view/increment/decrement 8/16 bit variables

EXP-30:

8051 or AVR based development system with intelligent IC simplifies development and provides professional looking instrument case for finished project.

The EXP30 development system consists of a development PCB containing dual microprocessor IC's (flash AT89C4051 and preprogrammed 8051), 4 digit LCD, three key buttons, piezo alarm buzzer, non volatile EEPROM memory chip, RS232 communications, software CD and a professional instrument case with mounting hardware.

A 140 pad scratchpad prototyping area is provided for user circuitry to create the desired project. Pre etched vertical and horizontal circuit traces can be cut to create a wide range of options for mounting IC's, resistors, capacitors, etc. The PCB is solderplated and has a solder mask to help prevent solder bridges. Spare screw terminals are provided for connections to external sensors or bring signals out of the instrument. The PCB is routed to the correct outline to fit snugly into the supplied instrument case.
The case is manufactured from UV stable AES plastic and fully waterproof from the front with a nitrile o'ring. A mounting bracket, bulkhead gasket and all brass and stainless steel mounting hardware is supplied. The stylish case fits in a standard 2-1/8" (54mm)diameter hole and has a 7 position screw terminal block on the back for power, RS232 interface and extra I/O connections.

The user programmable AT89C4051 uses two I/O lines to communicate with the pre-programmed 8051. The 8051 contains a host of powerful routines coded in fast assembly to handle the complicated and tedious work of driving the LCD, EEPROM, alarm buzzer, debouncing and decoding key buttons, 32 bit math routines, real-time-clock, extra RAM storage, random number generators and more. Simple commands to this IC produce sophisticated results such as converting a binary number to BCD and displaying the results on the LCD display with a single command. Each segment of the LCD is separately controllable.
The socketed Atmel AT89C4051 can be replaced with a pin-compatible AT90S2313 AVR chip. Use the prototyping area for additional components to add circuitry to build digital voltmeters, timers, data loggers, D/A's, or whatever.

Instructions and software CD with sample code written in C, BASIC and assembly language is included. Also included are a working C compiler, BASIC compiler and 8051 assembler. Instructions and software is included for sample projects to build a digital voltmeter, thermometer and digital clock.
